From the Whitney to Coney: art

My brother and I, expecting rain Friday, planned a trip to the Whitney followed by a wander up the High Line. Naturally once we got to the city, the weather had become hot and sunny. It was a good plan anyway, as neither of us had been to the new Whitney, and we saw the… Continue reading From the Whitney to Coney: art

Manhattan: a cul-de-sac of Illogic

The mist had become rain proper by the time we emerged island-side to East Village sidewalks full of hopefuls.

A walking tour: Chelsea to South Slope

Work took me to the isle of Manhattan today. As the meeting was in Chelsea, I availed myself of the opportunity to walk the High Line. I continued south and crossed the Brooklyn Bridge, and walked all the way home.

Take it with a… Continue reading CRASH: Tossed like a rag doll on the rainy streets of Midtown. A love story

Justified hyphenation

Last weekend I visited the Grolier Club to view the exhibition "Printing for Kingdom, Empire & Republic". Although it was not part of the exhibition, above is part of a gorgeous cover design for a quarterly magazine which was framed in the basement (click to see full image). Although it is generally frowned upon these… Continue reading Justified hyphenation

In which we await hurricane Irene

I'm scheduled to be at a wedding on Monday afternoon. Unfortunately, it's slated to take place on the beach at Montauk, the furthest end of the south fork of Long Island. Poor timing to say the least. Weather.com is still saying it will be sunny and windy,  high of 76 and 0% chance of rain… Continue reading In which we await hurricane Irene

Friday night, post studio

exposed piano harp, for example So, after all the copper plate and ferric chloride fun (see previous post), I left the studio to go meet up with Ben in TriBeCa. I was meeting him at Terroir, so walked south on Greenwhich, during which stroll I came upon an abandoned upright piano on the sidewalk. It… Continue reading Friday night, post studio
