A design update

Some BEFORE and AFTER images (not necessarily in that order). Despite deadlines, I have done a fair amount of work towards flipping this joint into a respectable space. It’s one of my favorite things to do, so made the fact I had to move into a big, three-dimensional art project.

Dining Room after; table cleared!

As you can see, I removed the 4″ x 4″ plank shelves from the wall– which may be re-purposed elsewhere. I also hung a chair rail (yay for chop saws!), and obviously painted– then gallery walled the crap out of it. You can also see the new color of the kitchen area in these photos; the aqua has been replaced with lightly-salted butter. The 2 reddish chairs are in process of having their seats reupholstered in similar black and white damasks to the other two.

I have an additional future date with the chop saw to do some panel-moulding beneath the chair rail (see illustration below); although that may be sidelined to use the moulding I bought elsewhere. Time will tell.

Edit: I decided to do painted detail instead, and will be using the moulding around the french door in the front room and bedroom…

Still to come: Kitchen and Front Room before and afters; headboard construction, etc…
