An eight hour day in the home studio, spent scribing the hard ground. Below are more scans in-progress; this is how I get an idea of what the line work I’ve done is looking like, although the more plates I work on, the more I’m getting a feel for it; that is, less in need of these. But they are interesting nonetheless, I think. To me what is most interesting is watching the empty space turn into structured space– the total freedom of drawing without the opportunity of the eraser– it emboldens you. The construction of an image in this way feels like working ‘without a net’, so to speak.
