Man about a horse

man with horse painting on panel; sketch phase
early phase graphite on wood panel to be finished with oils.

I awoke this morning with the Tarpeian Rock visiting a doomed mantra across my semi-conscious brain– nothing else attached to it; just a piece of lost luggage leftover from all my reading about Rome. And then, of all things, the cream for the coffee curdled violently! I just bought it yesterday and the sell-by date was February 20th! Disgusting!– and a shameful waste of good coffee to boot.

Of course neither of those oddments bears any relation whatever on the work-in-progress above. Watch here for the finished piece before too long, as I will make time for it between etching projects.
